A DAY OF SIGNIFICANCE.
January 10, 2025 marks the beginning of the Catholic Church's Jubilee Year - a sacred time for forgiveness, mercy, and spiritual renewal. With the theme of hope, this Jubilee invites believers to reconcile, reflect, and deepen their faith amidst global challenges. It's a season of open doors - literally and spiritually - a reminder of God's enduring grace and mercy.
It feels fitting that on this day of renewal and hope, Stripes is being re-released to the world.
The Story Behind The Song
Stripes first came to life in 2014, as part of my Today | Tomorrow album. My family and I recorded it in Nashville, and the journey was one of excitement and anticipation for what was to come. But upon returning to Australia, while I was deep in post-production, life took a devastating turn.
Our youngest son became severely ill.
The days that followed were some of the darkest of my life. After nearly losing him, I sat in a hospital room, shattered, as the doctor delivered the diagnosis. I felt as if our world had splintered into pieces, each one sharp with grief and fear. That evening, I found myself in a hospital apartment, lying in the fetal position, sobbing as Sandro showed, trying to hold it together.
In that moment, my sister called me. She didn't say much - just enough:
'Sis, find solace in your music.'
The first song I turned to was Stripes.
A Song of Healing
Through my tears and brokenness, this song became a lifeline. Its lyrics reminded me of the healing power of the stripes Jesus bore for us - both physical and emotional. It was a prayer, a cry, and a balm for my soul in one.
An Invitation to You
It is my heart's prayer that as you listen to Stripes, it will usher you in the presence of the Most High God who will carry you the way He carried me. As the melody washes over you, may the lyrics speak to the deepest places of your heart, bringing peace, comfort, and hope.
